COOKIE POLICY
What are cookies?
As most websites do, we sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device. A cookie is a small piece of data that a website asks your browser to store on your computer or mobile device. Websites have no “memory”, and cookies allow them to “remember” your actions or preferences (such as login, language, and other display preferences) over a period of time. So you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.
Websites mainly use cookies to:
- Identify users (check if the user is a recurring visitor or a first-timer, separate human users from search-engines…).
- Remember users’ custom preferences (such as language, font-size…).
- Help users complete tasks without having to re-enter information when browsing from one page to another or when visiting the site later.
- Collect behavioural information in order to evaluate the user’s experience and make improvements to the website.
- Collect behavioural information in order to show relevant adverts for the user.
Most browsers support cookies, but users can set their browsers to decline them and can delete them whenever they like.
Types of cookies
A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs.
By lifespan, a cookie is either a:
- Session cookie: It’s stored in the user’s computer/device temporary memory, and not in its hard drive. It’s erased when the user closes the browser.
- Persistent cookie: It’s stored in the user’s computer/device hard drive, and remains there for a pre-defined period of time.
As for the domain to which it belongs, there are either:
- First-party cookies: They are set by the same domain of the visited page. Most cookies are first-party cookies.
- Third-party cookies: They are stored by a different domain to the visited page’s domain. This can happen when the website references a service located outside its domain. For example when they include a Twitter widget or use an external mechanism for comments such as Facebook or Disqus. Another common use for third-party cookies are remarketing strategies, when the user is shown adverts relevant to past searches and visits.
How do we use cookies?
- We won’t use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you.
- Cookies will not be used for any purpose other than the one stated in the list below.

How to disable and delete cookies
You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer, and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.
We cannot provide accurate instructions for every browser, as they get updated frequently and the instructions would soon become obsolete. As a general rule:
- Open the browser’s main menu. It is usually located under a button with a gear icon () or menu icon ().
- Look for an option called Tools, Configuration or Settings.
- Inside the Tools/Configuration/Settings window, search for a tab called Privacy or Security. It may be under a Advanced Options tab.
- Cookie configuration settings should be in there.
- If you cannot locate your browser’s cookie configuration settings, usually a Google search featuring “delete cookies (your browser name)” or “block cookies (your browser name)” throws accurate instructions in the few first results.
